WTI Oil Ends at a Nearly 2-Week High
WTI oil prices finish at their highest since Aug. 11, ending up 3.7% at $93.78 a barrel as the market tries to rebound from seven-month-lows reached last week. "The recent wave of support comes in part due to comments from Saudi Arabia, where OPEC's de facto leader suggested the group could consider cuts to address market volatility," Robbie Fraser at Schneider Electric says in a research note. "That would mark a significant reversal from long-term efforts to boost output--efforts where cartel members have often struggled to lift output in line with official targets."
