Natural Gas Ends With 8th Straight Weekly Decline
Natural gas prices fall 4.3% to close at $6.453/mmBtu as bearish investors remain in charge of the market amid record-high production, softer LNG demand and mild fall temperatures that translate into reduced consumption of electricity generated by natural gas. For the week, the natural gas market finishes 4.4% lower and that brings a streak of weekly declines to eight, matching the longest losing streak since Feb. 23, 2001. A bullish turnaround may be on the horizon, however, as the peak-demand winter season approaches and inventories, though rising, are still 6% below normal.
